Last night the moon passed in front of the sun, allowing us in Suffolk to witness a partial solar eclipse (In Spain and Iceland they experienced a total eclipse).
But we had the gongs. Tracy set up 3 gongs, a king a queen and a moon. With her she bought a glass harp, which she opened with, stilling us all at 6.30. When the eclipse was at its zenith, she stopped playing the gongs and we sat up and witnessed the changing light, the stillness of the air, the feel of the moment.
I am very grateful for Ann who shared with us her glasses and so us who were otherwise without or with colanders or cardboard boxes, we too were able to glimpse the sun eclipsed by the moon.
Later than night I walked the dogs onto the field, and lay on the already dew wet bed I’d left behind. Once the eyes adjusted I could witness satellites passing and some shooting stars. I was not late enough for the rising of the line of planets: Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. The red giant, Arcturus was bright.
Talking of which, for this event, I resurected Many Very Educated Men Just screwed Up Nature:
Mercury, Venus, Earth (missing Mars and Jupiter) Saturn needs repair. Uranus needs to be made.
