Tree Warden seeding and one source of Deben

A glorious (dry again) October day for us to gather at the inspirational 2 Fields outside Debenham, a diverse community, in effect, run by Jeanie and Glenn. Glen on a digger in the background preparing the base of their home (challenges galore). For Fe, organising the event, it was the morning of the death of her dog Woody. But she got us going, preparing the trays, bringing exotic gifts freshly foraged from Westonbirt, the national arboretum. News from Steve, (the wondering woodsman) is that it is likely he will move wood, due to the giant power of the NISP solar project being lowered down adjacent to his little paradise.

Below, Fe, and some of the Tree Wardens gathering. A seed of hornbeam, which I had never noted before.

It had been 2 years since I finished the walk of the Alde river (which followed the Blyth) and vowed to walk the Deben. Now with aging doubts, I still could not resist the chance of exploring the source. ‘There are 3 sources’, explained Jeanie. We found one, the 3 dogs and I. We all needed a walk. I did a bit of trespass, crossing a wild field to circle, a modest 3k walk.

I noted that I motored from the source of the Deben over the Alde and Blyth source (Laxfield) on the way home.
