Here is the proposed Autumn planting of trees in Halesworth town. Sites surveyed by Lisa Simmonds and Rachel Kellett August 2026. Criterion:
– to link up existing plantations,
– to replace dead trees,
– to add to the tree cover, shelter and amenity of housing estates.
Visible services were surveyed, ground based and sky based (eg electric/telephone wires)
Maintenance needs to be taken into consideration. Lisa is currently watering 6 trees including the cherries Saxons way.

Current budget: £3,000 a year budget for tree maintenance. Put forward proposal for tree planting in next year. Reserve £5000. Propose £3000 and £2000 for new trees. (Precept 1% increase is £3,000)
Budget therefore £350 x 20= £7,000 – I’d say unlikely. Suggest we go for 10 a year. £3500. Which 10? Suggest Norwich and Landsbury (the others are replacements). £3,000 still.

Norwich Road (winter 2026)
This is the main lorry route and therefore presents challenges from a planning perspective re services and necessary clear view, however where proposed, between Zemke way and Fairview, there is a generous grass verge, clear view and and these oaks will join up a group of already well established and healthy oaks to the north and south
