Soon after I first bought the land a local farmer from Westhall came, and with his spade dug into the ground in 5-6 different places. He didn’t say much. Except “This soil is dead. There are no worms”.
When we were digging into the soil 2 years later, planting saplings, almost every spade interrupted a worm. What a change.
