Elders homework:
If you had 17 acres of land, how would you plan it?
Design Brief (worked out with Will Feb 2023)
- Woodland – to connect up the wildlife corridor of Kaliwood, Holton Hall Park, via the Pits to the Blyth valley. Encourage natural regeneration from existing wood typically Oak, Maple, Hornbeam, Hazel, Hawthorn.
Woodland part of ‘WOOD PASTURE’ a mix of woodland and open pasture, wide rides and open spaces. - Ponds – thanks to support from Suffolk Wildlife Trust, two ponds to be created in the north on the clay soil. One independent one and extension of the flood pond
- Homage to Martin Wolfe, Agroforestry, and accommodating the desire of neighbours not to be croweded in with trees. From Hard Standing up to neighbour land, no north-south axis, alleys of grass/crop and lines of hazel and vines.
A natural continuation of the Forest garden - Forest Garden and Community Garden. There are no alotments in Holton. Could we make a community garden? woodchip as mulch. No water which may be a problem. Who would tend and care?
- Woodland Burial – always wanted to create one of these. Needs planning permission. Up in north east corner?
