Land shed – thanks to Greenprint Forum and others

Thanks to Green Print Forum and Ryan plus a few others, we have a water harvesting system for the land. A shed. Measuring 8 meters by 5 meters we planned this shed to have a good sized roof with half of it over a verandah, useful for Kinda children and staff to take shelter under.

We broke into the fence (made last year by Sam) to put in a gate beside the shed, which allowed Sam to bucket the good earth around the shed base in to the community garden. He also cleaned the hard standing revealling much more useful parking and areas we could increase with more Type 1.

Colliers delivered the Type 1, and with shuttering in place, about 6 inches was put down and leveled with the digger.

Meanwhile, Kinda team of Loulabelle and children raked the chippings around the edge of the forest garden, and the pig shit in the garden. Where would we be without them?

Ryan arrived to begin the construction. This included collecting free roofing from Bernard Matthews – Thank you Dean Reilly) and IBS (Incredibly Big Containers) containers from Herco. Jamie delivered his best qualify pallets.

Shed Opening

Amid the continuing drought, on the savanna grassland, we gathered one Monday evening for a spontaneous opening of the shed. A glorious mix of workers, contributors, and friends – some from Kinda – came along. A pleasure to welcome Lawrance and Daniel from Greenprint forum. We recalled the story, walked the land, and in the circle, had a splendid rain dance, words and song led by Kim.

To crown the event, Don Bateman bought along his beautifully crafted gifts for the land: Two wooden tree protectors, and owl boxes for each type of owl: Barn owl, Tawny owl and Little owl. Now to get them in place.
