It was at a party of Graham Elliot, that Paul, chatting to Graham, said he was working on a woodland, and eventually the owner would like to build a cabin.
‘I’ve never built a wood cabin’, said Graham.
Graham arrived at the woodland with plans drawn up and photocopied.
‘With your Buddhist connections, I’ve based the design on an 8 sided hut.’
‘Ah but the 8 fold path comes from the 4 Noble Truths, and I’ve always wanted a verandah.’
He’s drawn a tree trunk through the middle, reminding me of River Cat.
Graham took early retirement and vowed to continue working but never to do the same work twice.
I like him immediately. Little did I know then of his great pedigree – Tim Hunken amongst them – and his remarkable skill, not just carpentry and engineering, but in balancing, listening, and thinking outside of a box.
