Far more exciting than expected. Rupert and I biked there, on backroads, with a cool north west wind, lanes decked with weeping white hawthorn and queen annes lace verge side. A grassy green sword up to the wood, Ash with die back dominated. Inside we heard machinery, logging for firewood. Then we came upon a much older part, an old maple and hazel coppice wood. Up to a deserted barn and back. Muntjac and hare came out for us.
Stunning old hornbean pollard at a wood edge.
