It looked like a public footpath on the map, but clearly wasn’t when we got there. But we found new ways and an old Hornbeam Coppice.
Biking, we went over the Blyth, to where the Mells Sun Nudist came starts, and no entry clear. However, the footpath was marked through the edge of the golf course, so we biked on hard ground up as far as a gate with signs indicating we could cross. We found the path behind the private land, lined with abandoned static vans and caravans, and at the edge, a field of buttercups. Along this old ditch we found the hornbeam.

Over an industrially sprayed field, to the Bramfield Road, we saw the wood about 50 meters away, tantalising but beyond the railway.
