Gifts from Suffolk Tree Wardens

Set out with Lisa (this is the only way I get to talk to you, she said) to collect these gifts from Suffolk Tree Wardens, the beginning of the hedge for the land. Hawthorn, Hornbeam, Hazel and a few standard oaks and maple, along with stakes, whips, guards, all – what joy. David Appleton there (with the Telsar) and Garry Battell. Lisa is almost off the image to the right.

Afterwards, inspired by a desire both of us had to see Mellis Common and Roger Deakins home, we ventured there, found and walked down Cow Pasture lane, the place he fought to retain, which we’d both re-read the story off in the book Trespass.
