Richard and kids to the Community garden

What pleasure working with others. Together, Richard and I cleared and prepared the garden for it’s winter state and a layer of chippings. We tackled first the young hedge planting at the top end, removing the nettles so we could see the hedge condition and replacing a few hornbeam planted earlier this drought year. Then the whole hornbeam hedge, planted in 2023 and growing well.

Children and facilitators arrived with glee digging up the potatoes from the easy wood chip soil. They were so collaborative. As the facilitators nattered in the distance, the kids got on with first digging potatoes then finding and digging up thistles, competing for the largest one, and helping transport them if too large to fork handle.

We planted a fig in the corner as our reward.

A glorious photo of Fe and 4 collies
